Travel Alert: Expect Major Delays on I-80 Mon - Thurs
CalTrans has issued a Traffic Alert for 'major delays' on Interstate 80 in both directions from Monday, September 17, through Thursday, September 21.

Major Delays on Eastbound and Westbound Interstate 80 for Striping Work
Construction Operation is Scheduled from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday
NEVADA COUNTY – Various lanes of eastbound and westbound Interstate 80 in the Sierra area from Truckee to Stateline are scheduled to be closed from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday to remove and restripe the pavement delineation. Delays up to 45 minutes, plan accordingly.
Monday, September 17 – Closure of one lane at a time eastbound (EB) I-80 to remove and restripe the EB pavement delineation. Nev-80 postmile 22 to Stateline.
Tuesday, September 18 – Closure of of one lane at a time westbound (WB) to remove and restripe the WB pavement delineation. from Stateline to approx. Nev-80 postmile 32.
Wednesday, September 19 – Closure of one lane at a time westbound (WB) to remove and restripe the WB pavement delineation. WB from Nev-80 postmile 32 to about postmile 27.
Thursday, September 20 – Closure of one lane at a time westbound (WB) to remove and restripe the WB pavement delineation. WB from Nev-80 postmile 27 to about postmile 22.
Construction crews will be removing and replacing the striping . After the work is completed, the traffic lane will remained closed to allow newly placed striping time to cure (30 minute cure time).
The project is funded by SB 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, which provides an ongoing funding increase of approximately $1.8 billion annually for the maintenance and rehabilitation of the state highway system. SB 1 funds will enable Caltrans to fix more than 17,000 lane miles of pavement, 500 bridges and 55,000 culverts by 2027.
