Peaks & Paws Festival: Dog Days At Palisades Tahoe
Palisades Tahoe, noted as one of the most pet-friendly resorts around, is a haven for dogs as much as for humans. The sixth annual Peaks and Paws Festival on Saturday, August 22nd is a special day set aside just for our furry friends and to benefit the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe.
The event includes a dog-friendly guided hike up the mountain, as well as the Hot Rod Hounds showcasing a Flyball tournament and demonstrations throughout the day.
Eager pups and their handlers can start off the day at 7:30 a.m. with a Squaw to Alpine 10K trail run, that starts at the KT-22 lift and meanders on the Western states trail and past adored landmarks, with dogs welcome to take part for an additional $5. Visit www.svamf.org/category/events/ for more information on the trail.
No matter what each pup’s favorite event is, pet owners can show their unconditional love and go home with gifts from an array of specialty product pet vendors.
Live bluegrass music will entertain throughout the day, featuring Bison, The Show Ponies, and Poor Man’s Whiskey and Lagunitas Brewing Company will be serving $5 beers, Wine is also available by the glass. The ever-popular Yappy Hour offers $1 off drinks as well as complimentary pet treats from 4 to 5 p.m.
