Cards are on sale now for the Truckee Tahoe Excellence in Education Foundation’s “Dining for Schools” fundraising program. Card holders will save fifty percent on individual dinner entrees at participating restaurants around Truckee and North Lake Tahoe during valid periods between now and next June.

TRUCKEE, Calif. – Sept. 1, 2017 – Three new local restaurants have joined more than 40 participating in the Excellence in Education Foundation’s “Dining for Schools” fundraising program this year. Hacienda Del Lago in Tahoe City, Whitecaps Pizza in Kings Beach, and Yamakai Fish and Sushi Co. in the Village at Northstar are the most recent additions to the program which offers each Dining for Schools cardholder 50 percent off an individual dinner entrée at participating restaurants in the Truckee and North Tahoe area. Some restrictions apply.

Mountain Valley Meats, located in The Rock plaza in Truckee is another new addition to the program this year. They will offer a 15 percent discount on in-store purchases made Sunday through Thursday during the valid period, non-holiday and excluding holiday purchases.

“The Dining for Schools program is one of the Foundation’s primary fundraising programs, contributing approximately $50,000 annually to our giving programs,” said Laura Brown, executive director of the Excellence in Education Foundation. “We are thrilled to welcome our new restaurant partners to the program this year, and to have so many others returning. The support and generosity of our local restaurant partners makes such a tremendous difference in our ability to provide annual grant funding to the students and teachers in our district.”

Dining for Schools Cards are available for purchase starting Sept. 15, 2017 for $50 per card, and are non-transferable, with all proceeds benefitting the Excellence in Education Foundation. Cards are valid Sunday through Thursday only (holidays excluded) from Sunday, Sept. 24 through Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017 and Sunday, April 15 through Thursday, June 14, 2018. Several restaurants offer an extended period that makes the card valid from Sunday, Jan. 7 through Thursday, April 5, 2018. Cards may be used an unlimited number of times at any participating restaurant during the valid period.

Beginning Sept. 15, Dining for Schools cards will be available for purchase at Safeway (Truckee & Kings Beach), Save Mart (Truckee & Tahoe City), Mountain Hardware and Sports (Truckee), The Store (Tahoe City), and online at www.ExinEd.org.
