Sledding and tubing are a whole lot of fun, and even more enjoyable when supporting a good cause at the same time. Is that even possible? Sure, it is!
Tahoe Donner's Snowplay area, which offers tubing and sledding, is planning a special event this Wednesday to support the Truckee Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Tahoe Donner will donate 20% of its ticket sales from that day to the PTO.
"The more people that come out to play, the more we can donate to the PTO," says Kirt Zimmer, marketing director for the Tahoe Donner Association. "We certainly have plenty of snow for everyone to enjoy!"
Snowplay is a great name for this venue. Participants zip downhill and feel the rush as they make their way through banked turns. Then folks can warm up with hot chocolate and a snack. Located on Northwoods Boulevard in Truckee next to the Trout Creek Recreation Center, Snowplay is open Fridays 1:30-4:30 pm and weekends 9:30 am - 4:30 pm. It is also open during the following early release days for the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District:
* Wednesday, March 2, 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.
* Thursday, March 17, 1:30 - 6:30 p.m.
* Monday, April 4 - Thursday, April 7, 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
* Wednesday, April 13, 1:30 - 6:30 p.m.
