Check out the Resort at Squaw Creek’s New Year’s Eve Holiday Party. In fact, bring the family. The night kicks off at 7 p.m. in the Grand Sierra Ballroom with a buffet, including a special kids’ buffet. The first balloon drop is at 9 p.m., with sparkling cider; the midnight balloon drop is replete with Champagne. Evening entertainment includes a magician (during dinner) and a comedian (at 9:15). After the comedian, dance your feet off (until midnight). Oh, and if all that dancing makes you hungry, there will be appetizers on hand. There’s even a supervised kids’ play room (they’ll be showing movies, we’re told) in an adjacent ballroom. Tickets are $75, $25 for children ages 4 to 12, with children 3 and younger getting in free. Stay the night and enjoy the NYD festivities, including the Polar Bear Plunge, in which brave participants take a dip in one of the resort’s unheated pools.
