Scope: Sierra ski history from ancient times to modern era, history of Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows ski areas, and 1960 Olympic Winter Games. The story is told through the books, Longboards to Olympics by Mark McLaughlin, Tales from Two Valleys by Eddy Starr Ancinas, and Snowball’s Chance – The Story of the 1960 Olympic Winter Games by David c. Antonucci.

Exhibits: Artifacts from early 20th Century skiing, memorabilia from the early years of Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows ski areas, Bill Briner Olympic photo collection, and artifacts and memorabilia from the 1960 Winter Olympics. All exhibits include explanatory interpretive panels. Hundreds of items on display, including skis, boots, promotional literature, Olympic souvenirs, Olympic artifacts, photographs and official documents and memorabilia from modern-day Olympic athletes based at Lake Tahoe.

Hours: Currently open seven days per week, 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Extended hours during holidays and peaks seasons; available for special events.
