Join Us for Carve Tahoe, an international snow sculpture celebration!
Carve is a week-long international snow sculpture event where you are invited to watch teams transform 20-ton blocks of pure, white Northstar snow into breathtaking masterpieces. And this is no amateur hour. The teams competing are the best of the best – selected from applications sent in from all over the world.
The lead judge for Carve Tahoe is Lawrence Noble, Chairman of the Sculpture department at Academy of Art University and an award-winning sculptor and illustrator. He is well-known for his famous Yoda Sculpture created for George Lucas and on display in the Presidio of San Francisco, CA.
While the highlight of Carve is the talent and skill of the snow carvers from Finland, Germany, Japan, Russia, Canada and the US, of course no event would be complete without a little charity thrown in. Every $1 donated per spectator vote will go to a local non-profit. Enjoying a refreshing Sapporo beer and delicious sushi at Mikuni after a long day on the mountain, watching the sculptors create massive works of art, and giving back to charity? Sounds like a seriously good time!
Come watch the carvers sculpt from Feb. 8-12, 2013, followed by rounds of spectator judging and the Carve Awards Ceremony on Feb. 13.
Teams joining the event at Northstar are:
• Team Canada
• Team Veistomania Finland
• Team Germany
• Team Idaho/USA
• Team Japan
• Team Russia
• Team USA/ Idaho
• Team Wisconsin
