Community Comes Together for North Tahoe Community Clean Up Day
NTBA prepares for annual event on June 6, 2020

KINGS BEACH, Calif. – May 18, 2020 –  Community members and visitors of all ages are encouraged to get involved in North Lake Tahoe’s clean up day tradition before summer arrives. On Saturday, June 6, the nonprofit North Tahoe Business Association (NTBA) will host its 25th annual Clean Up Day at 9 a.m.  Over 100 volunteers will take to the streets to pick up trash prior to the busy summer season. Last year, volunteers collected over 4,000 pounds of garbage at the community event.

Due to the COVID-19 situation, our June 6 event will look a little different than it has in the past.  Instead of one central registration location, volunteers will be able to choose from four locations within Kings Beach to pick up gloves and bags.  These materials will be available from 9am – 10am ONLY.

MATERIALS PICK UP LOCATIONS:
Sierra Community House (265 Bear St.)
Wolf St. / Cutthroat Ave. (NE corner)
Fox St. / Loch Levon Ave. (NW corner)
Fox St. / Salmon Ave. (SW corner)

"Our team is proud of its ability to host this community event and effort year after year," said Alyssa Reilly, executive director of the NTBA. "It truly couldn't happen without the generous, continuous support of local sponsors and local residents that volunteer their time and energy to keep our towns, and ultimately our lake, clean.”

Local residents and visitors are encouraged to walk, bike, or use public transportation to get to the event. For public transportation options, visit, www.laketahoetransit.com.  Volunteers area also encouraged to join in the Tahoe Bike Challenge by riding their bikes instead of using their cars from June 1 to June 30.

There are many ways to keep our communities clean year-round, and NTBA encourages everyone to lead by example by disposing of trash properly around neighborhoods and businesses in addition to joining other community clean up day efforts, recycling, drinking tahoe tap from reusable water bottles, and by calling Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal to gather hazardous waste.

NTBA will be hosting another Clean Up Day on September 26.  For more Clean Up Day information, visit www.NorthTahoeBusiness.org or call (530) 546-9000.

North Tahoe Clean Up Day is produced by the North Tahoe Business Association and sponsored by Red Wolf Lakeside Lodge, Tahoe Forest Health System, and Truckee Tahoe Airport District.  Additional sponsors include Arbor Solutions Tree Care, JR Krauss LTD, North Tahoe Public Utility District, Placer County, Rockwood Tree Service, Sweet Tahoe Time, and 101.5 FM-KTKE
