Sugar Bowl Extends Season Into May

Sixty-eight inches of new snow has fallen on the slopes of Sugar Bowl Resort in the month of April alone, bringing its season-to-date snow total to 782 inches. With more than a 19-foot snow base stacked up at the resort atop Donner Summit near Lake Tahoe, resort officials have decided to extend the season until May 7, 2017.

Earth Day Festival Returns to Squaw Village April 22

North Tahoe/Truckee's largest eco-event, the Tahoe-Truckee Earth Day Festival, returns to the Village at Squaw Valley on April 22nd, inviting the local community to celebrate regional environmental initiatives and to participate in the National March for Science.

Wild Wind, Waves & Water Pound The Shores of North Lake Tahoe

The seemingly incessant series of winter storms that have rolled through the Sierra this January turned wet and wild for a few days in early February. On February 9th, after three days of rain, the winds and waves kicked up to new heights (7' waves on the lake were forecast).  During a jaunt along the North Shore, we captured this segment documenting the scene.

Five Squaw Valley Skiers Named to 2017 U.S. Alpine Ski Team

Five members of the Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows Ski Team have been named to the 2017 U.S. Alpine Ski Team, making Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows the most represented team in the country. Athletes names in today's announcement are Travis Ganong, Julia Mancuso, Bryce Bennett, Erik Avidsson and Keely Cashman.
