Alpenglow Sports Presents “Running 172 Miles on the Tahoe Rim Trail”
    Tuesday, May 19th 2015 at 630pm
Alpenglow Sports, 415 North Lake Blvd., Tahoe City, CA 96145
FREE Admission. All ages are welcome.

On Tuesday, May 19th, 2015 Alpenglow Sports will host the fifth installment of the popular “Education Series”  created by the Donner Party Mountain Runners. Created in 2013, the Donner Party Mountain Runners is a grassroots running club that exists to inform and inspire mountain runners in the Truckee-Tahoe region.

Part of the mission of the Donner Party Mountain Runners involves educational outreach to the local community. On May 19th, board member and local ultrarunner Gretchen Brugman will tell her tale of thru-running the famous 172-mile Tahoe Rim Trail.

The presentation will tell the story of five runners who spent four days running the Tahoe Rim Trail, covering about 40 miles each day. In contrast to the lately popular idea of setting an FKT (Fastest Known Time), the runners did not complete the trail in a single push, but rather ended each day with dinner, a hot shower, and a hotel room – popularized as “glam” trail running.

The presentation will feature photos and stories from the trip, as well as detail the training, planning, equipment, and logistics involved to pull off such an endeavor. A short question and answer session will follow the conclusion of the show.

The show requests a $3 donation and attendees are encouraged to arrive early for good seating. There is no charge for Donner Party Mountain Runner club members.  Alpenglow Sports will serve refreshments and participants are encouraged to remain after the show for additional festivities.
