Magical Memories' at the Resort at Squaw Creek with Olympian Shannon Bahrke
Two-time Olympic medalist Shannon Bahrke, who was raised in Tahoe City and mastered moguls in her years on the Palisades Tahoe Freestyle Team, will be joining Santa and Mrs. Claus to launch the “Magical Memories” annual holiday celebration on Friday, November 26 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Every year, the free event draws hundreds upon hundreds of people. The Gingerbread Village Unveiling and Grand Tree Lighting Ceremony signals the official commencement of the holiday program that spans from November 24 through January 2.
"This is a very special event for me because as a young girl, our family would always come to Squaw Creek to see all of the Gingerbread houses,” said Bahrke. “I always wanted to eat them all up!
Bahrke won a silver medal in moguls at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games. In 2010, at the Vancouver Winter Olympics, she landed on the podium again, scoring a bronze medal and catapulting her name into the history books as one of the few U.S. skiers to medal in two Olympics.
