Punxatahoe Pete Contradicts Celebrity Groundhog's Prognostication

Lake Tahoe's own rodent weather prognosticator, Punxatahoe Pete, this morning contradicted the widely-followed call of celebrity groundhog Punxutawny Phil, who is reported to have seen his shadow this morning on Gobbler's Knob in Punxutawny, Pa., indicating another six weeks of winter.

Five Squaw Valley Skiers Named to 2017 U.S. Alpine Ski Team

Five members of the Palisades Tahoe Alpine Meadows Ski Team have been named to the 2017 U.S. Alpine Ski Team, making Palisades Tahoe | Alpine Meadows the most represented team in the country. Athletes names in today's announcement are Travis Ganong, Julia Mancuso, Bryce Bennett, Erik Avidsson and Keely Cashman.

More Lifts, Terrain To Open at Squaw | Alpine

Following extensive snowmaking and ample recent snowfall, Palisades Tahoe | Alpine Meadows is set to open more lifts and terrain on Friday, Dec. 2nd. Summit chair will open at Alpine Meadows for top-to-bottom skiing and riding, and at Palisades Tahoe, two additional upper mountain lifts are scheduled.
