The Kings Beach Snowfest Parade will take place on Saturday, March 12th at 11:30am. The live streaming view from the Kings Beach Traffic Cam (see snapshot below) will be excellent! $30 Million in Improvements Slated for Northstar-at-Tahoe

Vail Resorts announced today its plans to invest $30 million on major capital improvement projects at its newest resort, Northstar-At-Tahoe, for the 2011-12 season.

The two papers are owned by Swift Newspapers, Inc. of Reno, which also owns North Lake Tahoe Bonanza (Incline Village), the Tahoe Daily Tribune (South Lake Tahoe), and over twenty other newspapers in the West. The World was started in 1963 by the Stollery brothers; the Sun began in 1868-9 as the Truckee Tribune, later the Truckee Republican.

New Year '06 Begins in the Dark

Power was out along the West Shore, in Tahoe City, and along the North Shore eastward to Tahoe Vista for over 30 hours through New Year's Eve. The outage happened at just before noon on December 31st and continued through the evening hours of January 1st, leaving residents, businesses and visitors scrambling for information, food, heat and gas and changing New Year's Eve plans.

On Saturday the power company told local residents that power would be restored before New Year's Eve partying started, but power remained out through the New Year.

North Tahoe Fire Protection District (NTFPD) officials stressed that emergency readiness begins with the individual.

“If there is a widespread disaster, it flat takes time to mobilize resources. Logistics are difficult,” said Bryce Keller, NTPFD Division Chief.“People need to be prepared to deal with it on their own.”
