Since 2003, the Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop has been regarded as one of Truckee's leading annual events, held this year on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from noon to 4:00 p.m.
This annual event brings nearly 1,000 local and visiting participants to sip wine and sample local food tastings while enjoying shopping in historic downtown Truckee.
Over the past 14 years we have donated more than $26,000 to local non-profit organizations. Some of our past partners include: Tahoe Food Hub, Tahoe Safe Alliance, Girls on the Run, The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe and Sierra Senior Services. This year our partner is Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada County and North Lake Tahoe.
Join us for this iconic fall event in beautiful downtown Truckee. Attendees will receive a commemorative wine glass to sample wine at 30+ venues as well as five food tickets and a map to all participating venues. Get ready to wine, walk and shop!
Trek scenic Donner Summit with local historians on interpretive hikes. Choose from six hikes on Saturday ranging from 3.5 to 6 miles in length. Each hiker receives a commemorate ball cap and a hamburger lunch. Mark Twain portrayed by McAvoy Layne will perform in the afternoon. Two day option includes Sunday walking tour of Donner State Park and Donner Camp.
The Truckee Donner area is steeped in history. Exploring this region on interpretive walks and hikes you can almost hear the clip-clop of oxen and the rumble of the wagon wheels, as countless emigrants scaled the mighty Sierra Nevada in search of a better life. Learn about the success of the Stephens Party; the tragic events the Donner Party endured; and the importance of the transcontinental railroad.
